Using Focal Points to Create Emphasis

Our next photography assignment is learning how to use some of the manual mode features on the camera, so students can take more professional photos, and have more creative control over their images. Using the Aperture Priority Mode, students will be taking photos that show understanding of Depth of Field and Focal Points to create Emphasis.

Students will use a small depth of field to highlight one important object or person in their photos. They will practice framing their images to that they control where the focal point is in order to emphasize what is important in the picture.

This assignment will be completed after Winter Break.

Student Work for Symmetry & Asymmetry Assignment

I am very proud of the students who worked hard and were able to use the concepts of Symmetry and Asymmetry as a springboard to creative photography. Out of many successful photographs from all my students, these images exemplify the best work for this assignment. These students successfully used art concepts in photography, and learned digital editing techniques in Adobe Lightroom to optimize their work.

Student Photographs Coming Soon!

My students have been working hard at learning how to use the Canon Rebel DLSR camera, and Adobe Lightroom. We have been focusing on the concept of Balance in photography, using Symmetry and Asymmetry. Students have been walking around the school grounds, taking landscapes, portraits, and still life images that demonstrate understanding of these ideas.

I will be posting the best images from each class for this assignment after students finish optimizing their photographs.
